TIMBOR TREATMENT IS CONSIDERED ORGANIC AND ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY. IN USA, AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND TIMBOR HAS BEEN IN USED FOR MORE THAN 80 YEARS.

The best time to do it is during construction or renovation. This is the time when all areas can be treated without hindrance.

For others, there are affordable programs to keep termites out without hassle or massive works.

1. TERMITE BAITING & MONITORING

This method involves installing stations at common termite invading areas to monitor termite activity. The stations are checked periodically and it is recommended to check at least once every 3 months.

If termite activity is detected, termite baits will be used to feed the invading termites. The feeding will be carried out every 1 to 2 weeks depending on the size of the termite colony. In most cases, the termite colony will be eliminated after 2 or 3 months.

    Nemesis Termite Bait System

NEMESIS is a termite bait system designed to attract and eliminate termite colonies in a safe noninvasive way. It uses an insect growth regulator (IGR), Chlorfluazuron, as the active constituent in the Nemesis bait. Active termites feed on the highly attractive bait food source & translocate the IGR to other members of the colony, at levels undetectable by those termites, until the colony collapses.

The system uses a number of unique stations for in ground & above ground interception of active termites.

2. PRE-CONSTRUCTION ANTI-TERMITE TREATMENT / SOIL TREATMENT

Also known as SOIL TREATMENT, this preventive method is carried during construction or renovation of the structure.

The objective is to create a chemical barrier on the soil to prevent subterranean termite from infesting the structure.

There are 2 types of termite chemicals commonly used;

- Repellent: termite will be repelled when they sense this chemical

- Non-repellent: termite will not be able to detect this chemical. The objective it to allow termites get in contact with this chemical and contaminate other termites. Eventually, the chemical will reach the nest and the nest will be eliminated.

- Depending on the type of chemical used and the site condition, the treatment can last up to 10 years- .

Warranty certificate of up to 10 years is issued when the treatment is completed.

3. POST-CONSTRUCTION ANTI-TERMITE TREATMENT / SLAB INJECTION

This basic treatment to prevent termite infestation is to create a chemical barrier beneath the floor slab. This treatment is also known as SLAB INJECTION or CORRECTIVE TREATMENT.

There are 2 types of termite chemicals commonly used;

- Repellent: termite will be repelled when they sense this chemical

- Non-repellent: termite will not be able to detect this chemical. The objective it to allow termites get in contact with this chemical and contaminate other termites. Eventually, the chemical will reach the nest and the nest will be eliminated

- Depending on the type of chemical used and the site condition, the treatment can last up to 5 years.

A warranty certificate is issued when the treatment is completed.

4. PERMANENT TIMBER PROTECTION

Termite only attacks timber. It is strongly recommended to protect timber products in and around your home.

Timber treatment is affordable and can last for more than 20 years. The treatment is safe, odorless and permanent. This treatment is commonly used in USA, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

In Malaysia, many prominent homes and buildings used this treatment during construction and renovations. Some of them are KLCC Convention Centre, Bank Negara Financial Resource Centre, Royal Selangor Golf Club, IMPIANA KLCC and many others. Many developers’ own homes uses this treatment.

When termite activity is detected there are a few options of treatment to be considered.

Most people will try to use the common mosquito or cockroach aerosol. Some will buy termite chemical from the hardware store. Using these chemicals is only short term because these chemicals are repellent. It doesn’t solve the root cause of the problem.

The following methods are worth considering as it is safer and last very much longer.

1. TERMITE BAITING & MONITORING

Termite baiting is a popular method used by many for termite elimination. This method involves installing stations at areas where termite is detected.

Termite baits will be used to feed the invading termites. The feeding will be carried out every 1 to 2 weeks depending on the size of the termite colony. In most cases, the termite colony will be eliminated after 2 or 3 months.

The main advantage of this method is termite colony elimination can be determined. It is also non-intrusive; no smell and no mess.

2. POST-CONSTRUCTION ANTI-TERMITE TREATMENT

This treatment is also known as SLAB INJECTION or CORRECTIVE TREATMENT.

For active termite infestation, it is recommended to use a non-repellent termite chemical because it can exterminate the entire colony and safer to use. The termite chemical has no odor.

- Non-repellent: termite will not be able to detect this chemical. The objective it to allow termites get in contact with this chemical and contaminate other termites. Eventually, the chemical will reach the nest and the nest will be eliminated.

- Depending on the type of chemical used and the site condition, the treatment can last up to 5 years.

Warranty certificate of up to 3 years is issued when the treatment is completed.

MANAGEMENT

How to Get Rid of Rats

Successful rat control relies heavily on understanding of rat behavior, structural design, strategic planning, multiple tools and methods.

The most common rats are the Norway Rat and the Roof Rat. Understanding the habits of both will help you understand how to inspect and control the rat population.

1.
Inspection is an important first step in getting rid of rats. Once you know the location of the rats, you can set traps or place bait. This step will determine the source, entry exit points, shelter and food source. Some locations to look out for are drains, landscape and roof.

2.
Exclusion is an important rodent control technique. It will get rid of the rats by making it difficult for them to enter the home or structure. Common entry points are windows, door gaps, drains, toilets and roof.

3. Rat Control Methods

Many have used glue traps and baits and many may find these methods have limited effectiveness. A good strategy of placement of traps and baits, timing and type of baits is very important. The most effective methods to get rid of rats are trapping them and placing rodent baits.

Reducing Rat Populations By Trapping Get Rid Of Rats With Rodent Bait

Trapping does have some advantages over baiting. It provides an alternative for those who do not want to place rodenticides.

Trapping ensures that you can dispose of the dead rats before their odor becomes a problem in an inaccessible area. Disinfection is necessary to prevent spreading of diseases.

Rodenticides are poison baits and are used in areas such as drains and rubbish areas.

For protection against accidental poisoning, use tamper-resistant bait stations that hold the baits in place and keep children and pets out.

Single feed bait (requires just one feeding for a lethal dose) are commonly used.

Flea & tick infestations originate from cat, dog and rat.

It is important to eliminate these fleas immediately before they spread. Cat and dog fleas can spread quickly and they can spread to almost all parts of a home.

The treatment is safe, easy, disinfect, deodorizes and you can DIY.

MANAGEMENT

Source: An inspection to determine the source of the infestation is necessary to determine the next action. Sources can be from pets, external sources, and internal infestation. If the pet is the source it can be easily eliminated with a safe and easy treatment.

Prevention: Once there is an infestation, it will be necessary to spray all corners of the pet’s surrounding to exterminate new born flea frequently. If the pet goes out of the treated area it is recommended to spray on flea repellent before going out.

Elimination: The source is treated with a safe and effective insecticide. Residual spray will be used to deliver the safe insecticide at all possible infested areas and ULV misting will cover the hard to reach areas.

In most cases, the infestation may be eliminated in 2 weeks times.

If the pet is infested, the treatment can be used directly on the pet. The treatment will also deodorizes and disinfect the pet. Million dollar race horses uses this treatment to eliminate and repel fleas, tick and flies. It helps to de-stress the pet.

Cockroaches may become pests in homes, schools, restaurants, hospitals, warehouses, offices, and virtually in any structure that has food preparation or storage areas.

People are repulsed when they find cockroaches in their homes and kitchens. Cockroaches (especially the American cockroach, which comes into contact with human excrement in sewers or with pet droppings) may transmit bacteria that cause food poisoning (Salmonella spp. and Shigella spp.). German cockroaches are believed to be capable of transmitting disease-causing organisms such as Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., hepatitis virus, and coliform bacteria. They also have been implicated in the spread of typhoid and dysentery.

Indoor infestations of cockroaches are an important source of allergens and risk for asthma among some populations. The levels of cockroaches and allergens are directly related to cockroach density, housing disrepair, and sanitary conditions.

Chemical Control

Insecticides are most effective in controlling cockroaches when combined with sanitation and exclusion practices that limit the cockroach’s ability to establish or reinvade; chemical control alone will not solve the problem. If insecticides are used, they must always be used with extreme care. Indoor chemical control is warranted only if the cockroach population is established, but not for an incidental intruder or two.

Gel Bait

For crack and crevice treatments, gel baits can be very effective. Apply gel using a bait gun or syringe in small dabs in cracks and crevices where cockroaches will find it. While they are fresh, bait gels are very effective when placed in locations where they will be found by cockroaches. To remain effective, however, the gels need to be reapplied frequently. Bait gels dehydrate in about 3 days when left in open air. Gels are most effective if applied in indoor areas.

Of the thousands of species of flies, only a few are common pests in and around the home. Some of the more common nuisance flies are the house fly (Musca domestica), the face fly (Musca autumnalis), the stable fly (Stomoxys calcitrans), the little house fly (Fannia canicularis), and several species of garbage fly (especially in the genus Phaenicia). These pests breed in animal wastes and decaying organic material from which they can pick up bacteria and viruses that may cause human diseases.

While humans commonly find adult flies to be the most bothersome, the larval stage should be the prime target for control efforts. Elimination of larval habitat is the preferred method of pest fly suppression. While chemical pesticides may be effective for suppressing adult fly populations in some situations, they are not a substitute for
proper sanitation.
